Terms
Plain-language terms for using TipPool. By creating a business account, or using the demo, you agree to them.
What TipPool is
TipPool is software that helps a business collect tips, split them by its own rules, and pay its staff. It is not a bank and it never holds money: tips go into the business's own PayPal account, and payouts come out of it.
The business is responsible for its tip rules
- Tip laws differ by country, state and city (who may share tips, whether managers can take part, how cash tips are reported). The business chooses its rules and makes sure they're legal where it operates.
- AI turns rules into a split and checks each close-out, but a manager reviews and approves every payout. Check the split before you pay.
- The business handles taxes, payroll reporting and any fees its PayPal account charges.
Accounts and security
- Keep your password private and turn on two-step sign-in. Only invite managers you trust: managers can pay out tips.
- Use your own PayPal account and API keys. Don't use TipPool for anything other than tips owed to your staff.
The demo
The demo uses the PayPal sandbox, so no real money moves. Demo businesses are made up and are deleted after 7 days.
No warranty
TipPool was built for the PayPal AI Hackathon 2026 and is provided as it is, without warranties. We aren't liable for lost tips, failed payouts or business losses beyond what the law requires. Payments and payouts are subject to PayPal's own terms.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
